Overview

The Regional Artificial Intelligence Initiative supports SMEs and non-profits in Quebec to develop, commercialize, and adopt AI technologies across key sectors like agriculture, clean tech, life sciences, and manufacturing. SMEs can receive interest-free repayable support up to 50% of eligible costs, while non-profits can receive non-repayable support up to 90% of costs. The program operates until March 31, 2031.

Eligibility

SMEs that commercialize or develop AI technologies or solutions, including start-upsSMEs that are ready to adopt AI technologies or solutionsNPOs that support SMEs in developing, commercializing or adopting AI technologiesIndigenous-led businesses and NPOs eligibleMunicipalities and public agencies (health, social services, schools) are not eligible

Eligible projects

Development and commercialization of AI products by start-ups and growing businessesProjects demonstrating or commercializing AI technologies with technology readiness level 6 or higherProjects strengthening AI capacity and business activity developmentAdoption and strategic integration of AI by SMEsProjects supporting the AI ecosystem for AI adoption by SMEs

Financing terms

For SMEs: Interest-free repayable financial support up to 50% of authorized costsFor NPOs: Non-repayable financial support up to 90% of authorized costsEligible costs start from the date of application submissionTemporary initiative in effect until March 31, 2031
